1. Who we are
Quilting Press (“Quilting Press,” “we,” “us”) creates researched memoir and family-history keepsakes. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website and services, how we use it, and your choices. The business is operated by [legal entity / your name], located in [city, state]. Questions? Email [email protected].
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Your contact details — your name, email address, and (if you choose) phone number.
- Project details — the name and details of the person whose story we’re telling, what you already know, the occasion, and your preferences.
- Materials you upload — photographs, documents, letters, audio or video recordings, family trees, and any notes or stories you provide.
- Communications — messages you send us and our correspondence about your project.
- Payment information — handled by our payment processor; we do not store your full card details on our systems.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we may collect basic, non-identifying usage data (such as pages visited) to keep the site working and understand what’s helpful. [If you add analytics or cookies, describe them here.]
3. How we use it
We use your information only to deliver and improve our service:
- To research, write, design, and produce your book.
- To communicate with you about your project, including follow-up questions and your free Family Story call.
- To print and ship your finished book (see “Who we share it with”).
- To handle payments, keep records, and meet legal and tax obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your family materials for advertising.
4. Who we share it with
We share information only with the trusted service providers who help us run the business, and only the minimum needed:
- Printing & shipping — our print partner (Lulu) prints your book and ships it to the address you provide, under a white-label arrangement. They receive the book file and the recipient’s shipping details.
- File uploads — we use a secure file-request service (Dropbox) to receive the photos and recordings you send.
- Form & email — our form and email providers process the messages you submit so we can respond.
- Payments — our payment processor handles your transaction securely.
- Research databases — we look up historical records through genealogy services using our own accounts. We do not upload your private photos, recordings, or messages to those services.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights and the safety of others. [If you sell or transfer the business, add a clause about transferring data to a successor.]
5. Genealogy research & other people
Family research naturally surfaces information about other people — relatives, ancestors, and people connected to the person whose story we’re telling. We handle this with care:
- We research using publicly available historical and public records.
- Sensitive discoveries: if our research uncovers something painful or unexpected, we share it with you privately first, and you decide whether it goes into the book.
- You are responsible for making sure you have the right to share information and materials about living people with us, and for any consents that may be needed.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your project materials only as long as needed to complete your book and support you afterward. Your uploaded private materials (photos, recordings, documents) are deleted from our working systems after your book is delivered, unless you ask us to keep them on file for a future edition. We retain basic business records (such as invoices and order history) as required for legal and tax purposes.
7. How we protect it
We use reputable, secured service providers and take reasonable measures to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your materials safe and limit access to only what’s necessary to do the work.
8. Your choices & rights
You may ask us to:
- See what personal information we hold about you;
- Correct information that’s wrong or out of date;
- Delete your materials and information (subject to records we must keep by law);
- Stop contacting you — just reply to any message or email us.
To make a request, email [email protected]. [Depending on where your customers live, you may need specific GDPR/UK or California (CCPA) disclosures — confirm with your attorney.]
9. Children
Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If a book features a child, we rely on the adult ordering it to provide that information and the right to use it.
10. Changes & contact
We may update this policy from time to time; we’ll change the “last updated” date above when we do. For any privacy question or request, contact us at [email protected] or [mailing address].
